Serial Protocol and Output Driver
The Serial transmission protocol states that data is sent in packets of 5 bytes. Each byte is preceded by a start bit (0) and followed by a stop bit (1). Each packet is separated in time by 5 ms. The contents of each byte are indicated in the table.
Direction (CW/CCW) Selection
When the direction input on the field interface cable (DIR input) is connected to V S- , the position will decrement when the shaft is turned CW. When the DIR input is connected to V S+ , the position will increment when the shaft is turned CW. The 12 VDC power supply has to be cycled in order for the Resolver to change the direction of the increment/decrement counts.
Absolute Position Decoding
The Resolver is an absolute encoder. That is, it keeps track of the exact shaft position, even during a power outage or switching-off the machine. At power-up, the Resolver will pick up the exact shaft position, even if the machine moved during the power outage.
Ratiometric Resolver-to-Digital Converter
The AVG Automation ratiometric-tracking converter is practi-cally immune to electrical noise, voltage, frequency, and temperature variations. |
