RESOLVERS ON MODBUS PLUS Many machine control systems utilize Modicon PLC's as controllers. These controllers require machine position feedback continuously. With a resolver as position sensor, the control designer had two choices upto now: Use a stand-alone resolver-decoder and get digital position back to PLC through a discrete input card, Use a PLC Plug-in resolver decoder card. In addition to offering stand-alone decoders as well as plug-in modules for Modicon PLCs, AVG now introduces a third option Resolvers with built-in Modbus connectivity. This option allows users to wire the resolver directly into the Modbus plus network, making wiring of the control system standard, and therefore simpler and cost effective. In addition, the Resolver position information is available to all devices on the network.
