A Programmable Limit Switch (PLS), in conjunction with a revolver, replaces rotary cam limit switches. The PLS decodes resolver signals to get the machine position, and controls several outputs based on user-programmed setpoints.

The PLS offers many advantages over an electromechanical cam switch. The most important of all is the user's ability to fine-tune the setpoints in a PLS without stopping the machine. In addition, the PLS offers more accurate operation as well as features, such as speed compensation, which are not possible with the electromechanical cams.
